Shiho looked from the terminal in front of her to her own personal tablet. No new messages.

She'd known there was a chance this would happen-- Work and ZAFT and the PLANTs came first, despite mumbled promises of otherwise. Yzak had been summoned to one City, and she was in another, elbow-deep in trying to solve the kind of engineering puzzle that she'd gotten rather good at.

Having a reputation as a skilled pilot and engineer was nice.

But this should have been their first anniversary, complete with a nice dinner and everything after. Nobody bothering them, nothing but--

Her tablet beeped and Shiho grabbed for it.

Twenty-percent-off at a favorite shop. Well, hopefully Lunamaria had gotten the message, too. Someone needed to take advantage of that.

And it did mean messages were at least getting through. She knew how the walls were sometimes, even when it looked like she had a signal.

She'd messaged Yzak an hour before...

Of course, he was just as likely to be too busy to respond.

Another hour passed and Shiho narrowed down the problem. She'd experienced similar and knew a few fixes, though she could only implement them in the program and give blueprints to the mechanics to explain the physical changes needed. If it didn't work, she'd at least know where she left off. It might take another couple days, but...

She'd found a stopping point. Shiho was fine with that.

Still nothing from Yzak, and it was definitely time for dinner. She just had to--

There was a knock at the door of the office she was using and Shiho turned to see who was checking in.

"Happy Anniversary."

For a moment, Shiho didn't know what to say. How had Yzak--

And he'd brought food.

"Happy Anniversary."

Definitely one to remember.
