He didn't pause in his playing even when the man, half-drunk and still clutching his mug, stepped forward and stared at him. The man was loud but not dangerous in any way.

"You played this one when I was a kid. Just like this..."

Yes, probably. Yes, he probably had. But he couldn't very well say it, now could he?

Instead he just smiled, when he got to a part without words, and let the man's friends drag him back to their table.
